Hurry up – it will not last long. BBC announced Anton Bruckner as Composer of the Week and have some programs material in there. It is available until the 7 Feb 2013 and ONLY for UK visitors, otherwise you have just music. If you outside of UK yo...

Thanks again, Romy. I love Wand's Old School focus and certainty, and also the way he refers obliquely to the communion of the artists during a performance. Great questions and responses, all about Wand's roll in making Music, and Wand "Keeping It R...

I do not know any “interesting” LP of Bruckner 7. In my view Solti was not a good conductor of Bruckner. He did Bruckner artificially impressive and imposingly puffy, in my view they are big now ways to play Bruckner. For sure Bruckner would be “effe...

Join us on Saturday, September 4, 2010, to celebrate Bruckner's 186th birthday in Carlsbad, California. This year marks our 12th annual Bruckner Marathon and we'd like to share some good music with Bruckner lovers. As in previous years, we'll pl...

Eventually I have found the Bruckner Second symphony that is played how I feel it need to be played. The recording is from 1973: Horst Stein lead the mighty Wiener Philharmoniker. I got my CD on Decca Eloquence. This is unspeakably wonderful and I h...

I have been getting into Bruckner Third lately and Ive been trying to find some decent recordings. Jochum Berlin version I have is a bit too hurried. I would prefer something more articulate and with a bit more finesse. Any suggestions?...

Please, please, please, the British folks, make sure that you have download, record or whatever you do the last night Bruckner 8 performance. Leave the hornblende Bach plaing in the first part alone and preserve that Brucker. Lorin Maazel is gineus a...

I spoke recently with a friend of my and was trying to describe the sound of my midbass horns. I said that if Wagner was able to have his custom Bayreuth Tubas then why I am not able to have my Bruckner Midbass horns. I kind of like the metaphor that...

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]A few days back Simon
Rattle brought but Berlin Philharmonic in Boston and blew my mind. I never was
a huge fun of Simon Rattle and the music was garbage (Mahler 7). We were
sitting accidently very close (Berlin extended...

As I told before: screw the after war recordings of the Bruckner 9! I think it is not about the performances itself but the way in witch they are recorded. For whatever reasons Bruckner sound very strangely recorded if it is not live and if the poly-...

I have added to my list the Karajan’ recording with Wiener Philharmonic made in April 1989, sorry I missed it initially. Karajan generally with Vienna is more interesting then with Berlin Philharmonic, not to mention that he is generally better recor...

There was a guy as one musical forum. His name is William Sommerwerck and for all intended purpose he is an idiot. He was posting more or less lucid comments about music but he also fancied himself as some kind of expert on audio. He insisted th...

Interesting. This weekend a local guy visited and and he had a conversation about my playback. He said that my playback has very distinct my type of sound and it makes Bruckner to sound like Mahler. I was surprised with this assessment as I always th...

A few nights ago I slept in my listening room, on the floor and we were listening Bruckner 8… My floor in the listening room does not vibrate but as I lied on the floor (4” futon) I did pick up some bone vibration during the orchestra climaxes. I was...

Well, unfortunately, or fortunately, Giulini with Vienna during this live 1988 performance have closed any imaginable interpretation of Bruckner 9. At least it is the way how I feel…. In Feb 13, 8PM, Herbert Blomstedt will be leading San Francisco Sy...

I agree about Solti's Bruckner -- with the one exception of the 6th symphony. Solti's no-nonsense precision works wonders for me in that symphony, and it is I think my favourite version....

Arno, it is great that you express a curiosity about Bruckner
music. I do not feel however a regular recommendation for choosing a good
performance and recording is something that you might need not if you are not familiar
with Bruckner at all. Yo...

Poking around for options to acquire downloads of the Bruckner symphonies, including the performances briefly streamed free in April, I came across the following options on HDTracks.com. In no particular order we have, covering at least B4 through B9...

As
for the Musical Part of this CD, it could hardly be more amazing. I understand
that the performance was taped live by German Public TV, and this might well
mean that there is a great DVD of this event. Harmonia Mundi was also involved,

I'm just mentioning these two composers as they were significantly
influenced by Bruckner without exactly copying him. Each wrote 3
symphonies. Wetz lived from 1875 -1935 mainly in Erfurt and Weimar while
Scherber lived from 1907 to 1974 mainly ...

One of the wonderful things about Bruckner that Morons do not buy Bruckner records. Last night I attended the “Hydra” concert and stop by in city record shop. http://classical-scene.com/2011/11/11/sound-in-space-festival/comment-page-1Here it was the...
